The past month or so I've wanted a hair cut and just kept putting it off. I don't have a place I go to normally near my house, and with school and dental emergencies keeping me busy, it was easy to procrastinate. However, after repeated incidents of getting my hair stuck in my armpit (I know, sounds weird, but used to happen to me in high school when I'd serve in volleyball - yes, even in a ponytail!) - that yanks on the head unexpectedly!, and having Andrew annoyed at rolling over onto my hair at night, constantly having to put it back in a ponytail, along with just needing a change, it was time.
I called a place a few blocks away (they got good reviews on Yelp), and they fit me in this afternoon (45 minutes after I called!). There are benefits to having a school schedule where I'm home during the day! I'd been wanting to donate my hair to Locks of Love, but wasn't sure if I had the 10 inches they need as a minimum. This would be my second time donating to them. The hairdresser measured, and cut right above my shoulder line, and proceeded to do a cute lightly layered cut to finish it off. I'm pretty easy about haircuts - I'm not emotionally attached to that either (teeth, hair, whatever!). I've had it in a short boy cut, but usually keep it below the shoulder length. Namely, I keep it low maintenance because I just don't have the energy to put into doing much with my hair.
So, I'm a happy camper - I've got a ponytail to send off to kids in need, and I'm feeling a ton lighter! My hair is very swingy now. I'll be happy when it's a bit longer so I can get a few more layers cut into it, but it is certainly for a good cause, and it's great to have a change. It's weird to not have all that hair to absentmindedly play with anymore though! And hopefully Andrew likes it!
