My next (and last for the semester) assignment for Digital Painting class is to do an oil painting from a "mysterious" photo. So, the first step was to get a photo I would want to work with for the next month and a half. The parameters were very open, and being tired of the still lifes and objects I have at home, I decided to see if the great outdoors might hold something for me.
I had planned on taking a walk today at our usually mini-hike area by the beach a few blocks from my house, but I had not planned on this crazy heatwave! 105 degrees inland down the Peninsula at school, and 95 degrees at our house! Living by the beach where we're happy to see the sun, let alone a day above 75 degrees, this is unheard of! I began to worry I'd overheat. So I forewent much hiking and had fun taking pictures and people-watching instead.
I'm still not sure I have something I'll ultimately pick for my photo, but I've got a lot more choices now, and I ended up with some photos I'm happy with. I'm not much of a photographer, so the little things like playing with macros and depth of field make me happy. You can check them all out on my Flickr, but here are a few of my favorites.
I'd love to hear any comments you have, or what you think I should pick for my digital painting "mysterious" subject.
